In the summer of 1976, this was one of the views you could catch from high above the park.

Summer Above the Kingdom — 1976 is based on a view from the Skyway, looking out across the rooftops and pathways toward the castle in the distance. If you were there during that time, it may look familiar. If you weren’t, it’s a glimpse of the park from an angle that disappeared along with the ride.

We recreated the scene as a detailed black-and-white engraving, then engraved it into an 8 × 12 piece of natural slate. The stone gives the image a texture that you just don’t get from a regular print, and the natural edges mean no two pieces will look exactly the same.

A Little Piece of 1976

The Skyway carried guests above the park in small gondolas, giving them a completely different view from what they saw walking around below.

That’s what we wanted this piece to capture. Not just the castle, but what it might have felt like to look out from the gondola and see the park spread out beneath you for a few minutes.

About the Slate

Each piece is engraved on natural slate. Small differences in the surface, thickness and edges are normal and are part of what makes each piece unique.

What you’ll receive: one 8 × 12 natural slate artwork, laser engraved in black and white. Because slate is a natural material, the surface and edges will vary slightly from piece to piece.
