Care & Display Guide
Natural slate is durable and simple to care for. A few basic habits will help keep your engraved artwork looking its best.
Cleaning
For everyday dust, use a soft microfiber cloth. If more cleaning is needed, lightly dampen the cloth with clean water, wipe gently, then dry the slate with a second soft cloth.
Avoid soaking the piece or leaving standing water on the surface.
What to Avoid
- Abrasive scrub pads or stiff brushes
- Harsh household cleaners
- Bleach or ammonia-based products
- Pressure washing
- Dishwashers
- Long exposure to standing water
Displaying Your Artwork
Display your piece using the method recommended in its product description. For tabletop pieces, use a stable easel or stand on a secure surface.
Keep the engraved face from rubbing against hard surfaces and do not use the piece to support heavy objects.
Indoor Display Recommended
Slate is durable, but repeated exposure to strong sunlight, moisture, freezing temperatures and weather cycles can gradually change its appearance.
Natural Slate Is Supposed to Vary
Texture, edge shape, thickness, mineral pattern and surface character naturally differ from piece to piece. Those variations are part of genuine slate, so two engravings of the same design will never be perfectly identical.
The Engraving Is Permanent
With normal indoor display and basic care, your engraved slate piece is made to be enjoyed for years.
