Welcome Foolish Mortals
$49.99
A macabre invitation – a veiled bride and a top-hatted skeleton preside over a lamp-lit Victorian foyer, the phrase ‘Welcome Foolish Mortals’ daring the living to enter.
Description
I drew this as a playful, haunted welcome: a bride holding roses and a lantern-bearing compatriot stand watch above a fogged, lamp-lit grand staircase while a tip-tipping skeleton in a top hat and a loyal hound complete the procession. The gothic lettering sits squarely between the figures and the manor below, acting as both banner and dare.
The contrast of ornate Victorian architecture, ringed lights, and heavy mist keeps the eye moving from the characters down into the foyer, so the piece reads like an entrance-equal parts invitation and admonition to anyone who steps closer.
