Sun-Winged Flight

Description

A soaring eagle contains its own wilderness: sun rays, mountain peaks, pines, and a winding river travel through the torso and out along one wing. Creature and habitat are joined rather than placed beside one another. The bird does not merely cross the landscape; it carries the valley’s shape within its feathers. That idea gives the artwork both movement and belonging. It can represent freedom, perspective, homeland, or the places that remain part of us wherever we go. The longer it is studied, the less certain it becomes whether the eagle is flying over the mountains or the mountains themselves have finally taken flight.
