Emblem of Panamá

Description

A single, perfectly centered circular emblem dominates the square field, its double-ring border enclosing an intricate, vertically symmetric ornament. At the heart of the composition sits a tall lozenge/diamond whose pointed apexes nearly touch the inner edges of the ring; fine radiating lines and increasing hatch density toward the edges give the lozenge a bright, jewel-like center and a sense of carved depth.

Surrounding the lozenge are four identical quadrant panels composed of interlaced triangular facets, kite-shaped forms and leaf-like curves. Across the emblem’s horizontal midline a large serif wordmark reads exactly “Panamá,” its oversized initial and flowing terminal flourish overlapping the lozenge and resting convincingly in the foreground. The letters are heavily contrasted, detailed with internal contour-following hatch lines and thin highlights, and sit above a crisp, down-right drop shadow that accentuates the layered relationship between type and ornament.

The surrounding negative space is uniformly deep black, framing the emblem with equal margins on all sides and reinforcing the graphic, orthogonal presentation.
